LEISURE DB JOINS FORCES WITH 'DOING OUR BIT' AS A SUPPORT PARTNER

We are super proud to announce that we have become a supporting partner of 'Doing Our Bit'!

You may already be aware of the fantastic preventative health movement Doing Our Bit that began during lockdown to offer all NHS and Social Care staff free, on-demand fitness & wellness sessions, provided by fully qualified PTs and instructors.

The platform proved popular and has continued to grow: over 130 NHS trusts have so far signed up, enabling over 750,000 staff to register and take part.

The leisure industry founding partners of Doing Our Bit – Active IQ, Fibodo and Study Active – worked closely with Julie Davis, the NHS worker and founder of Doing Out Bit, to bring to life her idea of championing preventative health, by providing free fitness and wellness content and classes for NHS and Social Care colleagues. The pandemic may be over, but the stress, strain and poor health of the NHS remains a very real challenge. In fact, NHS sickness is at its highest level ever.

The work of Doing Our Bit is far from over, and more support is needed to increase its reach.

Doing Our Bit is set to continue into the future to ensure free access for NHS staff to expert health, wellness and fitness sessions. It has formed an official not-for-profit company and launched an App for subscribers. Doing Our Bit’s next evolution is to offer free in-person fitness sessions at leisure centres – such as a place in a group exercise class or a free gym or swim session. The suggestion is that local leisure centres offer one free session per week (using existing inventory) to Doing Our Bit subscribers – so that this doesn’t impact greatly on their classes/gym/swim capacities.

Doing Our Bit is building a community of like-minded leisure centres who are happy to do their bit to support the NHS and social care staff. We hope this is something you’d be interested in supporting and you can register and find out more here: doingourbit.org.uk
